Canberra brew gets bottled
Canberra’s award winning Wig and Pen Brewery has begun bottling their beers, starting with the zesty and refreshing Kembery Ale.
Brewer Richard Watkins, said the ale was ideal for summer drinking so it made sense to bottle it.
The Kembery Ale is now on sale at the Wig and Pen in Civic and Plonk at the Fyshwick Markets, with wider distribution planned in the new year.
NEW BOAG's FOR SUMMER
James Boag’s Pure will be released to the public on November 9, according to Lion Nathan, its parent brewer.
It is the first under the Lion Nathan umbrella, and is the newest entry into the top-end beer market.
Pure has been labeled a full-bodied, full-strength lager, brewed with all Tasmanian ingredients.
Boag's operations director Phil Hargans told the Mercury that it will not affect the sales of the premium title.
'”We don't believe it will be cannibalising Boag's Premium," he said. "It is operating in a different brand space, not just in domestic but international premium space."
It will have a recommended retail price of $57.99 per slab and $17.99 for a six-pack.

When: October 12-16 (Mon-Fri) and October 19-23 (Mon-Fri); dinner trading, 5pm-9.30pm.
Best Beer Garden in the world holds installation
Sydney’s award winning Opera Bar will host ‘The Best Beer Garden in the World’ installation from Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th this month.
With startling views, nestled between the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge, hence the grand title, the installation will feature a decadent garden bar featuring trees, plants and water features. Designed by Rinsed Studio in collaboration with China Heights co-founder and curator Edward Woodley, inspiration came from the illustrious Garden of Eden, and the Hanging Gardens of Babylon.
“This installation will be something never before seen in Sydney, certainly not at Sydney Opera House. It will be an unforgettable experience to be able to stroll around a luxurious garden setting and enjoy a cold beer with the best backdrop in the world,” says John Gallas, General Manager of Opera Bar.
“We’ve long been regarded as the best beer garden in the world and this installation will definitely help us assert that claim.”
Opera Bar is open 7 days a week from 11.30 am with live music nightly from 8.30pm and 2pm on weekends.

Cooper's bring out new Pilsner
Coopers 62 is based on a classic Bohemian-style Pilsner, with a straw-to-golden colour and dense, rich foam. Hopped, using a combination of traditional Saaz and Hersbrucker varieties, it has a medium-bodied palate and is generously fermented to produce a well-attenuated lager.
The hop flavours are perfectly balanced by an all-malt recipe of Australian-grown malted barley to finish with a residual sweetness, typical of this style of beer. The end result is a crisp, full-flavoured taste with a smooth, satisfying finish, brewed just for you. Coopers 62. The Perfectly Individual Pilsner.

According to Food Week, Coopers marketing manager brewing products, Scott Harris, said the development of English Bitter followed a number of requests from home brewers keen to produce a beer similar in style to the bitter served in traditional English pubs. Brewed correctly it should have a brown-copper colour, red hues and a creamy head.
